Three-dimensional work has become more important to me in recent years. The first experiments were in plaster on metal armatures. This studio model technique yields a perfect surface for scratched writing. In a sense, these works in plaster are sheets of paper in the round. Greek Ideal is a series of six casts from one plaster original; one might see this as six sheets of blank paper in human form, each of which receives a different written message. The works in laser-cut steel also bridge the 2D-3D divide. The Metalgrenzen are calligraphic compositions that have become so large as to dominate the surrounding space. The "braakballen" can be seen as three-dimensional collages.
